The BBH self-gripping pin is used in processing thin sheet metal, for thicknesses between approximately 1.0 and 3.0 mm.
The method is based on the viscous sliding of the metal walls of the hole in the sheet (punched holes are preferable) which create, during installation, a coupling ring around a special groove located beneath the pin head.
This characteristic is also used to give resistance to torsion.
Assembly on the hole made on the sheet is done by creating a gradual mechanical pressure on the pin, in contact with the sheet itself.
The sheet thickness and hole precision on the sheet (compare chart) are necessary for proper assembly.
Sheet hardness must be equal or less than 70 Rockwells B.
